About Dennis Cardiff
Dennis was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. He studied art under Ernest Lindner at the Saskatoon Technical Collegiate Institute. From Lindner Dennis learned to appreciate painting the figure in nature. "Ernie" later became a friend and a mentor.
At the University of Saskatchewan Dennis studied under Wynona Mulcaster and Dorothy Knowles.
He later moved to Toronto where he studied at York University and the Ontario College of Art. Other artistic influences in Toronto were Tom Lima from whom Dennis learned pastel portraiture, also Michael John Angel (a student of the world famous Pietro Annigoni) who taught Dennis egg tempera painting and the classical approach to art.
